Is A1 Real Estate School approved by the NJ Real Estate Commission?
Yes! Our school ad our instructors are all licensed by the Real Estate Commission to deliver pre-licesning education classes.
Can I attend classes in-person?
No. All our classes are led by live instructors to whom you can answer as many questions as you want, but they are all delivered via Zoom. So you can study from the comfort of your home without worrying about traffic and weather to get to school!
What do I need to get a NJ real estate license?
Be at least 18 years old by the time you apply for your license. Be either a US citizen or legally allowed to work in the USA. Be of good moral character. Be a high school graduate, or equivalent. Complete the 75-hour pre-licensing course at an approved real estate school such as A1. Pass the state exam with a score of at least 70% of the 110 questions correct. Undergo a criminal history background check.
How hard is it to pass the state exam?
We’ll be completely honest: it is very difficult. On average, only about 30% of candidates statewide pass the exam every month. It is critically important that you take this course seriously. Take lots of notes, read every chapter, do all the quizzes, participate in class by asking loots of questions. We want you to be one of the 30%, not one of the 70%!

We also have an extremely valuable “Exam Prep with Live Instructor” class. This 8-hour class given over 2 evenings is led by a senior instructor and covers all the tips on how to pass the state exam. It comes with a free exam prep textbook. We recommend you schedule the state exam for the following day.
Is there a time limit on when I must take the state exam?
No. But you must complete all the requirements mentioned above within one year of graduating from real estate school.
If I fail the state exam, can I retake it?
Yes. You may take it as many times as you want, so long as you wait 24 hours between exams.
If I cancel my registration, is there any refund?
If you cancel more than 24 hours before the first day of class, we will refund your tuition, minus a $50 service charge. Once class has begun, there is no refund.
What if I want a Pennsylvania real estate license…or a license in any other state?

If I fail the school’s final exam, can I retake it?
Yes. Everything we do throughout the course prepares you to pass the final exam—provided you take seriously the requirement to study, take notes, read the assignments, and do each chapter quiz. If you fail the final exam, you may take a different final exam for a nominal fee of $25 to help cover the fee we must pay the exam proctor. If you fail three final exams, you must retake the course.
